Why Cancer?  Why the Big C?

Volunteering means we are giving our time for free.  I’m the president of Michele the Trainer, a project manager, an entrepreneur, a geek, and a businesswoman.  So why does Michele the Trainer volunteer at some cancer charities?  The short answer is PEOPLE and PREVENTION.

I have lost beloved friends and family to cancer.  These events attract survivors, their courageous families and those left behind.

I volunteer my time to be with, share and listen to everyone affected by cancer, but also, to help educate those of us that remain to IMPROVE their lifestyle with a positive focus on  PREVENTION.

When we eat better and exercise, we feel better and have more ENERGY.

We can’t prevent everything.  We all have a ticket and time to leave this mudball.  That can’t always be prevented by improving lifestyle.  Healthy body and healthy mind absolutely help us at all ages and stages of life.  I’m not here to sell you that kale will repair your credit, make you an affluent king, a supermodel, or build a space age protective shield around us if we play on the freeway.

BUT we also know that obesity, smoking, many pollutants and food additives can cause or increase the likelihood of cancer and other diseases.

Some of these events applaud the survivors that have had 10 years, 20 years, 30 years free.  I don’t have any metrics or studies, (Nerds please stand down here :)), but I’ve made note of what many of the long term survivors  already know.  Survivors and their families want to learn more about the value improving the quality of their life via exercise, hydration and organic plant foods.  Survivors have seen the value through an increase in energy and their own life experiences.

You might be saying to yourself, “Wow Self, those things are what Michele the Trainer is all about!”

I make my living and am paid  by organizations because I have overcome many of my own health challenges, have endured loss of  loved ones (that may have been prevented via lifestyle improvement) and I have the ability to  inspire, educate and motivate.

Just like Pearl Jam says, “I’m still alive!”
