This video was SO fun and it was fantastic to be a part of this uplifting super fun Highway to Health project.

Below I’ve included my ridiculous Blooper Reel and here’s the tale of how it all came about in this time of Coronavirus.

The Story:

Highway to Health (smartest name ever right?) was created by Back:n:Black, the girls who play AC/DC, as an innovative way to entertain and uplift their fans (and the world) amid the Covid-19 crisis. Highway to Health is my very first music video cameo appearance.  It’s also the first time I’ve shared my vocals with a touring rock band.

YAAAAS the Raging Cheer: Heartbroken and weary from the devastation of Pandemic 2020, this event idea sounded so outrageously fun I wanted in. My favorite line in their description, “show the world that they can keep us on lockdown, but they can’t keep the rock down.”  Boom!  I’m into health, I’m into music, I’m into energy, I can sing LOUD!  I wanna participate!

The Freakout:  What would this require?  I’m 1000 years old and I have never done a self video.   All of Los Angeles including tourist spots are locked down, which gave me more possible excuses.

Selfie video?  Ugh

Music video?  Yeah right

Singing Highway to Hell?   OMG no way

How?

Where?

I thought of going to Hollywood or using the Randy’s Donut sign as a background (a kitschy icon near the Los Angeles Forum, one of LA’s concert venues with epic rock history), but could I even get there during our Plague 2020 lockdown?

The inspiration: Remember when there were only like 3 female electric guitar players the world knew, or female rock bands rocking? I certainly do.  I’m a tardy musician/singer myself, getting a late start learning guitar and my humbling learning struggle continues but it’s a journey full of FUN.

The Thunder: So of course I’m a HUGE fan of Back:n:Black, the girls who play AC/DC, and I totally dig that they aren’t trying to be AC/DC, they are just loving the music and rocking the energy and that is simply funtastic. I connected awhile back with rhythm guitarist Beatrix Young because they were seeking European venues, so I shared with her some of the concerts/venues in Europe I wanted to (still dream to) attend so she could try to get those gigs too.  Go go go Ladies from Hades!

The Innovation:  The Highway to Health idea sparked after all of their shows were cancelled due to the pandemic.  Brilliant!

During Covid-19, the band was locked down in different European countries.  Beatrix was locked down in Switzerland so she understood and assured me that I didn’t have to book a photo shoot at Disneyland and any palm tree would suffice.
