Calibrate those Eyeballs!
Portion Distortion is everywhere in the USA. Our restaurant portions are enough for two or more adults. We think that’s a normal amount of food because that’s what we’ve seen on television for over 20 years.
So we try what some magazine says…”oh I’ll just eat a portion the size of the palm of my hand…or a deck of cards” we tell ourselves.
However, just like any good optical illusion,( and you KNOW optical illusions) exist, that visual portion you THINK is the right size..may not be!
Test it every now and then…..bring a measure to your favorite restaurant and see how much MORE you’re eating than you think
Try it…..you may think that you’re eating a tennis ball size of oatmeal = 1/2 or 1 cup, but eyeball it and then measure it. You may find that your tennis ball can become a basketball over time.
The Michele the Trainer Way is different. My method is not all about calories…I am not recommending you eat less…this is just a fun way to learn about your body and how our eyes need Test and Measurement too!!
