Calories In and Calories Out is an Incorrect Metric; All Calories are NOT Created Equal

Have you ever heard, “It’s all about Calories In and Calories Out”.  I hear this a lot among workout and gym folks.

This one make me happier,  “I am making an effort to cut down calories and carbs where I can”

I love to encourage and hear it when folks are trying to get into the MINDSET (Michele the Trainer’s 3rd M; Motivation, Movement & Mindset!).   It’s just awesome.   Trying does pave the path to progress, but let me help you get there in the best shape ever.  I want to prevent cellular starvation; I want to make sure we are getting all the nourishment we need, especially if we are growing or aging! Please read this,

Cutting Calories can Equal Starvation

Are all calories created equal?  The answer is NO

The metric, “all calories are created equal” is bogus…

A broccoli calorie is not equal to a ‘deep fried whatever’ or ‘frosted whatever’ calorie.  Is a broccoli calorie equal to a cupcake calorie?  No.

Metrics;  all my geeks, nerds and test & measurement folks can appreciate better metrics.

Please don’t cut plant calories!!!..Abundance there is the key…That is why my books are plant based.  Any bodybuilding competitor who is getting ready to compete can tell you that eating only carrots and plain tomatoes can get boring, and can turn you into a self loather. Don’t be a hater (then you might email me and send me negative comments on my blog posts)  It’s unnecessary!  Be Happy!  Order Michele’s Books now!  Eat more and be HAPPY!

You all know that the greatest community franchise weight loss centers allow “free” plant foods (it varies from year to year, but vegetables remain mostly “free”–though the trademarked title of the category might change).

We also have to think about nutrient density.  Is an organic broccoli equal to a conventional pesticide broccoli?  No.

I’ve written on this in my book, 100 Ways to Lose 100 Pounds (my never edited/published version). Processed carbs, yes we all know they count. But a broccoli from your organic home garden and a broccoli from fast food are also not equal…ponder that!   The fast food broccoli has probably also been frozen, transported, etc.

Here’s a link to the top 10 ANDI scores;

See this image (I can barely read that font!) and link re: ANDI index, this is one area where the world is catching on.  Note the ANDI (Aggregate Nutrient Density Index) clearly shows that the least nutrient dense foods are animal flesh and dairy products, which are also the most acid (besides soda, pharmaceuticals and coffee).  Ask me about acid vs. alkaline and disease!

The ANDI Index is  a great start towards differentiating and measuring what really counts…

absorbable and assimilable nutrients.

So how do we measure calories in, calories out?  It depends on the quality of the calorie in!
