The Kick Off You Need to Get in Shape

“I have no time.”

“I’ll never have time to start?”

“Where to start?”

Aren’t those the questions? How do I get started getting in better shape and being healthier? Everyone feels like it’s impossible with work, and family and after school obligations.

The struggle with being healthier is surrounding us:

  • Up at 6 am to get the kids out the door
  • Work from 8 to 6
  • Get home exhausted and have to parent or chauffeur
  • Want to spend time with the family, not at the gym
  • Eat bad food on the run, all the time hating yourself for it

John is an old friend who moved to Washington, DC. I am in LA, but he knew that he could call me for help. He decided to do the Healthy Kickstart Bootcamp, designed for working adults. Because the program is custom, it fit his life perfectly and now I only hear from him for “tune ups”.

Healthy Kickstart Bootcamp starts with the individual and their story. John started working for a government contractor as an engineer. His hours are ridiculous, but not uncommon. Fifty/sixty hours a week, seven days, that’s what he’s doing. Still we figured out a way for him to exercise right in his building.

He walks the stairs every day at 5 pm, after most of the building has gone home. He also goes to the cafeteria with a homemade salad and homemade dressing, grabs an iced tea, and a piece of fruit and his protein. He likes fish and chicken and he could find that from his cafeteria grilled, but he wasn’t getting in any vegetables. He spends less than 1 hour weekly buying and prepping his veggies.  (He makes his salads and veggies once a week on Sunday night for the whole week.) He improved the flavor and taste of his food and it’s all fast, convenient and includes MORE of all the foods he loves.

John sleeps better, feels better, drinks less coffee, and is losing weight. What’s most important, he is creating a new life habits that will keep him feeling great and doing well.
